When it is difficult to talk about emotions and even recognize emotions, you can put together a flip book of various eyes, noses and mouths to assist in "making faces." It's a less intimidating way to talk about emotions.
When referencing the pictures below... I put the eyes, nose and mouths into a person's head and then individually cut them up and laminated each piece. I then hole punched each piece and put all eyes on a ring, all noses and all mouths then put each ring on a larger ring to create a person's head. You could do this without the person's head as well.
